Marilynn Barner Anselmi | Network Writer

Marilynn Barner Anselmi lives and writes in rural, eastern North Carolina.  Her plays have been performed around the country including National NewBorn Festival, NYC;  Women’s Work, Pride Films and Plays,  Chicago, IL; Detroit Repertory Theatre; Kennedy’s Theatre, Cleveland, Ohio,  Different Strokes Theatre, Asheville, NC,  The Studio Theatre, Washington DC;  Magenta Giraffe Theatre, Detroit, MI; Women’s Work Festival, Tennessee Women’s Theatre Project, Nashville, TN;  University of North Carolina Pembroke, Social Justice Symposium; The Sideshow Fringe Festival, Nashville, TN, Barton College, Wilson, NC; Demaskus Productions, Pittsburgh, PA; Annual Equity Leadership Conference, NC State University;  Women’s Work Festival, Atta Girl Productions, San Antonio, TX;  2013 National Black Theatre Festival, Winston-Salem, NC.

Honors include being named a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference in 2012 and 2013; finalist for 2013 Playwrights First, National Arts Club; finalist 2012 New Works Festival, Phoenix Theatre; 2012 Porter Fleming Literary Award; finalist for the 2013 Susan Nims Distinguished Playwright Award, Last Frontier Theatre Conference, Valdez, Alaska; recipient of NC Humanities Council Grant and NC Arts Council Artist Fellowship.

Marilynn is a member of the Dramatist Guild of America.
