ALTERED BOY – Garrett Allain’s hit show in The Buena

PRIDE ARTS CENTER Ppresents a hilarious one-man show! ALTERED BOY follows the life of Garrett, a good little Catholic boy who says his prayers, makes good grades, performs in school plays, and wins participation trophies for recreational sports. As he gains more years and fewer trophies, his connection with the Church grows stronger. And yet the closer he gets to the Church, the further he gets from who he thought he was. Journey with Garrett through storytelling, song, dance, and video in this earnest yet very funny one-man show.  ALTERED BOY – a one-man show by Garrett Allain – earned laughs and tugged at hearts in the Fifth Annual Nerd Comedy Festival at Stage 773 this past September. Garrett Allain hails from Prairieville, Louisiana, where the fish and mosquitos aren’t the only things that bite. He acted in his first play in the second grade and was hooked. Ascension Community Theatre credits include THE FOREIGNER (Ellard Simms), CYRANO (Ragueneau), and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Mendel/Russian Dancer). He attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and Los Angeles to study contemporary and classical theatre, with a secondary focus on dance, singing, and film. Charles Busch: My Kinda 60’s

“Whether singing or dishing about his life or celebrities he has known, Charles Busch is always the epitome of entertainment and class.” Cabaret Scenes Tony nominee, Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement honoree and two-time MAC Award winner, Charles Busch, returns with a new show that gets to the essence of this legendary entertainer. Weaving tales of his Manhattan childhood and adolescence raised by his indomitable Aunt Lillian through the lens of the tumultuous decade of the 1960’s, Charles will be singing a great songbook from Broadway to Pop, featuring the work of among others Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, the Beatles, Henry Mancini, Bob Dylan, Stephen Sondheim and Kander and Ebb. Songs include Two for the Road, Anyone Who Had a Heart and The Times They Are A-Changin’. He will be appearing with his long-time musical director/ arranger Tom Judson in a unique evening of music and storytelling, both hilarious and poignant. 26 presents HAPPY HOLIGAYS!

26 Presents: Happy holigays 26 PRESENTS: HAPPY HOLIGAYS is the fourth edition of Pride Films and Plays’ popular late night performance series inspired by the horror movie anthology THE ABCS OF DEATH. Our nine actors will present 26 scenes each inspired by a word that begins with a letter of the alphabet. Playwrights from across the Chicagoland area have created the 26 unique scenes. Performances will be   Saturday    nights at   10:30 pm,   December 2, 9 and 16 at The Buena, Pride Arts Center. “26” features sketches written by the Chicago theater, sketch and improv community including: Carson Birdsong, Ross Christian, Amanda Foreman, Brian Gore, Wen Powers, Kallie Rolison, Tim Skau, as well as the performing cast.   It is directed by Amanda Forman .

PAC THE HOUSE: Drag and Comedy the last Sunday of each month!

Performers announced for November 26 edition of Pride Arts Center’s monthly variety showcase, PAC THE HOUSE Drag artists Coco Iman and Ryan Royale to host Pride Films and Plays’s monthly series of shows spotlighting a cross-genre feast of queer and queer-ally local performers will continue on Sunday, November 26th at 8pm with a show hosted by drag artists Coco Iman and Ryan Royale. The featured acts will include standup comedy by Jake Dewar, a clown act by Lyla Whedbee and music from hip-hop artist Marcus Garlington. PAC THE HOUSE is performed monthly on varying Sundays in The Broadway, Pride Arts Center at 4139 N. Broadway.
