Gay Today – A Pride Cabaret

On Monday, June 22, the stars of Pride Films And Plays sing songs of modern romance and self-discovery in “GAY TODAY – A PRIDE CABARET.” Arrangements and music direction are by Robert Ollis.  The cast includes Libby Lane, Michelle McKenzie-Voigt, Edward Fraim, Kevin Webb, Sam Button-Harrison, Dan Gold, Tom Chiola, Luke Meierdiercks, Jordan Phelps, David Besky, and  James Nedrud. Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 with. VIP tickets are $25 and include reserved cabaret seating. Warming Up – a LezPlay Salon

Are web series the new L word? An evening of lesbian web series screenings in LezPlay Salon Series’ kickoff event WARMING UP Friday, June 19 at Apollo Studio Theate Pride Films & Plays is delighted to announce the first event in our LezPlay Salon Series, WARMING UP, a hilarious evening of lesbian web series screenings hosted by local comedian Shannon Noll. Join us on Friday, June 19 at the Apollo Studio Theater. Tickets are $10 and are available at Ticketmaster.com. We will be screening several web series featuring Chicago actors and filmmakers, including the first season of the Andersonville-based #Hashtag. The evening will also include a conversation with tello Films producers Jessicn King and Julie Keck about this brave new world of lesbian and queer representation online. There will be a cash bar at the theatre. The evening will be hosted by Shannon Noll, a stand up comedian and improvisor. Currently she can be seen performing as a cast member at 100 Proof Comedy (ComedySportz), Good Morning Lakeview (Annoyance Theater), and Skinprov (Annoyance Theater). Nominee Night

Performers from Bailiwick Chicago, Theo Ubique, Kokandy Productions, Pride Films and Plays, Boho, and Signal Theater Ensemble Celebrate Nominee Night at Sidetrack on Tuesday, May 19. Artists from many of the Jeff Award Nominated musical productions of the 2014-15 Season will be featured at Nominee Night, a showcase at Sidetrack on May 19. Performers scheduled to appear include Garret Lutz and Carol Buinis from Kokandy’s The Full Monty, Jim DeSelm from Boho’s Parade, Callie Johnson from Bailiwick Chicago’s Carrie, Sam Button-Harrison from Pride Films and Plays’ The Book of Merman, and Courtney Jones from Signal Theater Ensemble’s The Next Thing. Also on the bill are Don Johnson, Maxwell J. DeTogne from Jesus Christ Superstar at Theo Ubique, and Matthew Keffer, Danni Smith, and Sharriese Hamilton from The Wild Party at Bailiwick Chicago. Join us for an AFTERNOON DELIGHT!

It feels like 2015 just arrived, and Pride Films & Plays already has a lot to celebrate!  The Book of Merman has been extended by popular demand, our Great Gay Play finalists have just been announced, and we’re about to open a show at the Steppenwolf Garage. We’re ready to raise a glass, sing a song, and spend the afternoon with friends like you!   Join us on Sunday, March 8 for AFTERNOON DELIGHT– a Celebration of all things Pride! The party is from 4-6PM at Ada Street Chicago (1664 N Ada St). Tickets are $50, and include live entertainment, snacks, and a selection of beer, wine, and signature cocktails. Donna McKechnie is Simply Sensational!

Tony Award Winner Donna McKechnie Headlines And Dean Richards Hosts Simply Sensational: Legends An All-Star Annual Benefit for Pride Films and Plays October 20 at Stage 773 Pride Films and Plays annual fall benefit Simply Sensational: Legends will reach new heights this year when Tony Award Winner Donna McKechnie headlines the event on October 20. She will be joined on stage by other musical guests American Idol Finalist Devin Velez, Colte Julian from Million Dollar Quartet, and Ryan Lanning from Bailiwick Chicago’s The Wild Party. WGN’s Dean Richards serves again as the emcee, which features a preshow reception at 6 pm, the performance at 7, and a post show champagne toast with Ms. McKechnie. McKechnie created the role of Cassie in the original production of A Chorus Line, and her breathtaking song and dance number “The Music and the Mirror” are part of American musical theater lore.
